Tagging Steps for First-Timers

Consigning can be overwhelming for a first timer! This page will help guide you and make your experience as simple as possible.

Step 1. Register as a new consignor (or a returning consignor if you’ve consigned with us before!)

Step 2. Purchase all supplies needed: wire hangers, white cardstock, safety pins (1 inch or larger) and clear tape.

Step 3. Gather all items you plan to consign.

Step 4. Login with your consignor credentials and click on “Manage Items” to create tags for each item.

Click “Add” (Manual)

Select Category (ex. Boys Clothing)

Select Size (ex. 4T)

Brand (ex. OshKosh)

Description (ex. navy dino shirt)

*Adding a clear description of your item helps us match a lost tag bag to it’s item, should it fall off.

Select price (ex. $3.00)

Discount checking this box makes the item eligible for 50% and 75% off discount days. NOT checking the box

will print an “ND” meaning NO DISCOUNT on the bottom right corner of the tag.

Donate checking this box will designate your item for donation. This will print an X in on the left hand side of your tag and helps us

identify the donated items. If wanting to waive your consignor fee, all your items must be marked with an X.

Add item.

Step 5. Enter in all items.

Step 6. Print all tags.

Select all items you want to print. Click on “Print.” A window will pop up and a .pdf file will be created. Open the .pdf file and print all

sheets of tags.

Step 7. Attach all tags to items.

All toys and items in ziploc bags - attach tag with clear packing tape

All hanging items should be pinned securely to the hanger and the tag pinned to the right upper side of the item. Safety pin should go thru

the tag horizontally.

When tagging books, games and puzzles, to keep the item from tearing when tag is removed after purchase, attach these tags with painter’s

tape or masking tape.

Things to Know About Barcodes

A tag with a clear barcode is best for both Encores and YOU the seller.

When you have tag with a barcode that won’t scan (because it’s too light, too dark or just fuzzy) the tag has to be entered manually.

On our busy days, 1. this holds up the lines and 2. increases the chances of the tag being entered incorrectly.

If the ink is too dark and the lines are too close together, these barcodes won’t scan. If the ink is too light, or the barcode is broken up, the barcode won’t scan. If the lines are wavy or overlapping, the barcode won’t scan.

We recommend that tags be printed using the draft setting (NOT high quality). This prints a clear barcode that is neither too dark or too light.
